Here at Rim Point Dental, we offer periodontal care to treat and prevent gum disease from affecting the health and beauty of your smile. This disease occurs when there is too much bacteria being trapped inside your mouth, causing plaque to form around the edges of your teeth. If not treated right away, you are more susceptible to experiencing tooth loss and other dental problems.

Signs you may have gum disease include:

  • Red, swollen gums.
  • Bleeding when you brush or floss your teeth.
  • Pockets of pus between your teeth and gums.
  • Bad breath.
  • Sores inside your mouth.
  • Hardened plaque between your teeth that you cannot get out.
  • Loose or weak teeth.

By coming in for an oral exam at our office, Dr. Pamela Ellis will check the severity of your case before advising periodontal treatment. These treatments may include deep cleaning, scaling and root planing, antibiotic therapy, gingivectomy, soft tissue grafting or more. To protect yourself from developing gum disease, we encourage you to properly look after your teeth by brushing your teeth in a circular motion, especially at the gum line, twice a day. Be sure to also floss every day to remove plaque and tartar after eating.
